With an aim of producing Olympic champions, the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science established a full-fledged hockey academy catering to athletes from the grassroot to Olympic level. The main objectives will be to train and offer coaching facilities to help players improve their fitness level, mental toughness and finishing qualities in a scientific manner.

Former India skipper & Olympian, Padmashri V Baskaran, heads the Hockey academy as its Director and is focused deeply on monitored and scientifically executed coaching to develop Hockey players of world class level.

The newly laid Hockey turf at the Shri NPV Ramaswamy Udayar Hockey Centre was inaugurated in 2021 by Shri Kiren Rijiju, then Honb’le Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports. The turf is certified by International Hockey Federation (FIH) and serves as a perfect training base. The academy is ably supported by sports science from Sri Ramachandra CSS including Sports Medicine, Biomechanics, Sports Nutrition, Sport Psychology and High Performance Training
